The Heavy Roller by Lattice is a wrist training device that uses an offset loading mechanism. To maintain your grip during movement, you must squeeze the device and flex or extend the wrist against the direction of rotation. The high torque generated at relatively low loads targets either the wrist extensor or flexor muscles to improve grip strength without stressing the shoulders. It's the ideal training tool for climbers looking to maximize their grip strength gains.
Use this device compared to other grip trainers to provide a more direct stimulus to the forearms by excluding the arms and shoulders. Compared to the hangboard, the Heavy Roller distributes loads across the entire hand, placing much less strain on the fingers. This means you can continue to train your grip strength off the wall and away from the hangboard.
Wrist training for:
- To increase strength in the wrist extensor/flexor muscles and improve stability during climbing. This generally reduces the amount of friction needed to maintain contact with less positive holds and surfaces.
- To add variety to a training plan and offer more options to target grip strength.
- Wrist injury rehabilitation: target the affected area with progressive loading. (More practical than a dumbbell rack)
- Golfer's/tennis elbow rehabilitation (elbow tendinitis), a common issue among climbers.
Features
