Visiting the Red and need a quick list of the classics? On a budget and want to buy one book instead of three? Already own the three but need a quick reference for the best routes on a quick trip? The Red River Gorge has over 3000 routes, and Red Select showcases enough classics to fill an entire lifetime of weekend fun. With more than 54 sectors and their routes, you'll have plenty of places to choose from if you need to escape the crowd, the rain, or the cold.

Inside the book, find handy icons to help you plan your day: drive time, walking time, sun exposure, rain protection, and even kid-friendliness. About the Authors

Born and raised in Slade, KY, Dario Ventura is a true local of the Red River Gorge. He made his first first ascent here at the age of 10 with his father Miguel and RRG legend John Bronaugh and John's son, Alex. From this early start, he went on to make many other first ascents in the area, particularly at Miller Fork. Like his father, he has pizza in his blood, and from a young age, he has been an indispensable part of the Miguel's Pizza business. He and the rest of the Ventura family have made the Red what it is with their ability to bring climbers from all over the world together. Dario knows the Red as if it has been his backyard all his life, which it actually has.

Mike Williams, assistant editor, researcher, and project manager for this book, is a climber from New River Gorge and the author of the guide for that region. Longtime editor of Deadpoint magazine until the demise of that excellent publication, he has climbed a lot at the Red, and his love of the region and attention to detail were essential in making this book what it is. Mike lives in Fayetteville, WV, with his wife Elissa and their children Hazel and Elliot, where he climbs, writes, and operates Bridge Bound Campers, custom Sprinter vans.

Ray Ellington has been climbing at the Red for 30 years. He first collaborated with Wolverine Publishing in 2005 and wrote 4 editions of the Red River Gorge guide, as well as self-published the Miller Fork guide. He lives in Lexington, KY, with his wife Michelle.
