About the Author
Nate Liles is originally from British Columbia, Canada, but he has been spending time on the cliffs of the American West since the age of 15. A talented photographer and videographer, he shares his vision of the world through the company he runs with his partner Bekka, Orographic Creative.
Since 2020, Nate has been the development director of the American Safe Climbing Association (ASCA, safeclimbing.org), working to raise awareness of the country's most ambitious and effective equipment replacement program. An expert in re-equipping, he gives courses on the delicate art of removing and replacing climbing points, and has put these skills into practice in the San Luis Valley, repairing and enhancing many classic routes here and helping others do the same.
Although he is the last to mention it, Nate is also a quiet climber on the cliffs and boulders, and he has worked hard to repeat, evaluate, and standardize the ratings of the high-level routes in this guide. When he is not climbing, photographing other climbers, repairing routes, or opening new routes, Nate can be found late at night in a secluded campsite, capturing time-lapse images of the night sky.
