This is an impressive guidebook! California Road Trip has over 450 pages, offering a grand tour of more than 2000 routes on over 100 cliffs. Perhaps "climbing atlas" would be a more appropriate term. Boulders, sport routes, and trad, all on granite, volcanic, and limestone... It can be safely said that this guide contains several lifetimes of climbing!

Each region is presented with an excellent overview, including information on more detailed guides and seasonal specifics. For the large areas, this book barely scratches the surface, while for many of the smaller ones, it's all you'll ever need.

Whether you're a seasoned California resident or just visiting for the first time, this book is sure to inspire new adventures. The open road is calling you!

About the authors

Tom Slater has been climbing for over 30 years and has written several other climbing guides in California. He has recorded more than 150 of his own first ascents and has climbed boulders to big walls all over the United States and Europe. An English teacher, he spends his free time traveling, surfing, and spending time with his wife and children at their home on the central coast of California.

Chris Summit was born to climb. Originally from northern California, he started climbing in the 80s in Sonoma County. He has also written several other climbing guides, including the self-published guide Wine Country Rocks. In addition to exploring new first ascents, Chris spends a lot of time teaching climbing and equipping routes in various climbing gyms. He still lives in Sonoma County.
