Explore one of the world's great climbing sites, Joshua Tree National Park in Southern California, with this recently updated guide! The 3rd edition of Joshua Tree Rock Climbs is our thickest book, weighing over 500 pages. Renowned for its intoxicating blend of demanding traditional climbing, exotic granite formations, unique flora, and laid-back outdoor life, Joshua Tree is a must-visit destination on every climber's bucket list. Most return year after year. For over half a century, the great climbers of Yosemite Valley "trained" at Joshua Tree during the cooler months, leaving a fascinating legacy of challenging and classic climbing routes.
Do you prefer gentler routes? The variety of easy and moderate routes in the park is unmatched. It's an ideal place to introduce someone to the sport. All rock climbing disciplines are represented: cracks of all sizes, overhanging face routes, delicate slab problems, friction slabs, corners, overhangs, aretes - you name it! Top-rope climbing has a long tradition here, and some of the challenging top-ropes are world-class. Although true sport routes are in the minority, most routes here are a mix of natural protection and anchor points and require only a small rack, making it an excellent place to develop your "old-school" skills.

About the Author
Robert Miramontes first visited Joshua Tree National Park in the mid-1980s and began a lifelong obsession with climbing and bouldering. His love for the park inspired the cultivation of another passion - photography - and the combination of these passions led to the creation of this book. Robert has now written six books on the region, including this one, as well as the titles Wolverine Joshua Tree Bouldering and Joshua Tree National Park: The Insider’s Guide. He lives near the park with his wife Christina, also a climber, and their daughter Alexandra.
