Friends Wedges 2.0 - Wild Country

“Do you have the ‘Friends’ bag, Ray?” the name stuck…

Friends are the most iconic protection devices ever created. Throughout their 38-year history, although the construction has changed, their essence remains the same. At the heart of every iteration was the definitive 13.75 cam angle. Refined and developed by Wild Country and proven in thousands of kilometers of cracks climbed since 1977! This new Friends is no different; built with a double axle, it remains a Friends. At the core, our constant 13.75 cam angle provides the axis around which future climbers will place their trust.

Robust and reliable, this Friends combines classic features and important additions to create an intriguing blend of old and new. Externally sleek with purposeful design, the eye is drawn to a number of smart improvements: Hollow axles (patented) are stiffer for less weight. Wide, skimmed lobes grip better while being kinder to the rock. The new 12 mm Dyneema is agile and easily extendable, saving the time and weight of having to use a quickdraw on each one. The internal components are based on Wild Country’s classic foundations: our legendary holding power and the consistency of overlap between units, while the double axle has allowed us to increase the range per unit. Available in sizes 0.5, 0.75, 1, 2, 3 and 4
