The PIU 2.0 uses an opening with a "smooth teeth" system to increase friction during belaying stops without damaging the rope. Additionally, the PIU 2.0 allows for self-locking mode during top-rope or multi-pitch belaying. 

The Core Lock carabiner is an HMS type for belaying and rappelling. With its large diameter, it allows for better controlled descent by reducing harmful friction with the rope. The screw allows the carabiner to be securely locked.
