Designed for precision on technical approaches, the Black Diamond Technician is an ultralight, grippy, and durable approach shoe, particularly well suited to terrain where hiking, scrambling, and climbing sections follow one another.
Its EnduroKnit upper is made from a single-piece breathable and durable knit. It promotes good heat management while providing the toughness needed to withstand repeated abrasion against rock. A rubber toe cap reinforces the shoe in particularly exposed areas.
The Technician focuses on a precise fit. Its extended lacing down to the toes allows the tightness to be adjusted along the entire length of the foot, while a molded TPU midfoot strap and a lace lock help keep the foot securely in place. Its lightweight half-bootie tongue also makes it easier to put on and take off at the crag.
The dual-density EVA midsole is tuned to strike a balance between stiffness and comfort: enough support to improve precision on small holds, but enough cushioning to remain comfortable during approaches.
Underfoot, the sticky BlackLabel-Mountain rubber is designed to provide excellent friction on rock, especially when edging on small holds or smearing on smoother surfaces.
Finally, several webbing loops provide different options for attaching or storing the shoes when the approach ends and the climbing begins.

Fit
The Technician has a narrow, flat shape and offers a performance fit that is closer to the foot than a traditional athletic shoe.
For climbing and technical approaches, Black Diamond recommends choosing your size as measured on a Brannock device. For a more relaxed fit, or if you have wide feet, it may be preferable to choose half a size larger.
